New York City, How can I Meet You again?

Gambar
Manhattan at night We chose to visit Brooklyn Bridge at night so we could see the light of the bridge and the skyscraper surround it. So beautiful.   This is not a travel guide nor tips to travel to New York City (NYC). I just want to share my experiences in NYC here, to keep sort of my memories there and to remind me one day that I've been there. I realized that there's nothing impossible in this world. Keeping up my dreams as always. Last week, on 24-27 May I was in NYC. All of those days I felt blessed. A boon. Thank God everything was going like I planned. I booked my return plane tickets and hostel two months ago. I got a good price, it was $179 for U.S Airways airplane return tickets from Charlotte, NC to John F. Kennedy (JFK) airport in NY. I paid $155 for the hostel for 3 nights. The hostel's name is Q4 hotel, located in 2909 Queens Plaza North, NY. I highly recommend this hostel, it's cheap, clean, the kitchen was Ok,...

Is that You, Marigold?

Gambar
Marigolds are one of a hundred different kinds of flowers. When I heard about Marigolds automatically my mind will say that they are the ugly yellow flower that smells bad. Indonesian people called it "kembang tahi ayam" which means chicken feces. We are so mean, hahaha. It is not a coincidence. Everybody knows that this flower has a pungent odor and we don't like it. Now, it changes. I could see this flower in a different way. I assure you will agree with me. All right, in these last couple days we have Marigolds in my section at Metrolina Greenhouses. First time I saw them I was so surprised because they're not tall like I knew before. When I got closer to them I felt confused. Why are they so beautiful? Why? It took a couple minutes for me to realize something. Where is the bad smell? I didn't smell anything. They are totally shocking me! I read some articles about Marigolds today and I felt that Mari...

Stupid

Spring is coming. All of the worker says that our job or work will be harder in this season. I think so. My life will be busier than before. Just like today, Saturday, and tomorrow Sunday I should work. We called it overtime. Every single overtime, Oh My God. Every single work on the weekend I always make mistakes. I don't know why. I really don't want it happen. For example, today, I broke the sprayer cable. Damn! Actually, last overtime was worst than this. Life is not easy here. I want, I need to be better day by day. But these stupid things just happened. Or am I that stupid? I always think that I am the most stupid intern/ student/ worker here. Haaaah!! This feeling, let say stupid feeling.  I've never thinking about it before. I mean, I never think that I am so much damn stupid when I was in Indonesia. I should re-check my life record. Or.. Probably this American work procedure is too magnificent well organized. And I just stupid and th...

Uniquely American Flea Market

Gambar
Bored with modern market such as Walmart and Harris Teeter, I decided now it's time to go shopping to a traditional market or flea market. Today was that big day. I went to a flea market located in Dallas, NC. It took about 45 minutes driving from Huntersville. This market is only open on the weekend, Saturday and Sunday. That's why there was a lot of people crowding that place. I think every flea market in this world is the same. Either in U.S or in Indonesia, it sells everything. The most familiar things that we can find are cloths, vegetables and fruits, pets, jewelry, accessories, shoes, electric tools, kitchen sets, and food.       The atmosphere at flea markets is usually the same, but I can still find something interesting. Especially if I compare it with some of flea market in Indonesia. Here, I can say it's more comfortable. The parking lot is wide, the bathroom is clean and free, it provides an ATM inside, and ...

A Long Road to Get Drivers License in NC

Gambar
This post is my promise. Whenever I get my driver license I will write the story and share it in my blog. This is a special moment in my life, this is a truly life in U.S.A. So, what does this means? Yeah, finally I got my driver license yesterday, 30-1-2014. I've been waiting for this moment for four months. Actually I have 2 kinds of drivers licenses in Indonesia, car and motorcycle. Driving for me is not a new thing, not a hobby, I drive because I need to drive. Especially in my hometown, Belitung Island, where is rarely people there use public transportation. I don't know how it starts. Is it because of the cost of public transportation is more expensive? Is it public transportation uncomfortable? Is it people just like to drive by themself? Is it faster? What I know is the number of personal motor vehicles are pretty much enough to mobilize people there. Anyway, here I am, I need to have a driver license. A car license. It would be more comfortabl...
